Let's Get Acquainted...
Thank you for dropping by! My name is Shemaine Fox-Pickens, and I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and a true Southern Girl at heart!
As a woman, we take on so many roles and sometimes we need an outlet; we need people to relate and understand our journey, and in turn hopefully we can help someone else looking to find a way to share their story. I've been a writer all my life...at least for as long as I can remember. I've written short stories, songs, a novel (unpublished for now), and I feel like I've already lived multiple lives and I'm barely over 40!
It has been filled with ups, downs, sadness, happiness, defeat, and success like most others. I felt that there was too much that has happened to me to narrow it down to just one specific area of my life to write on, so I will document everything. My life is filled with "irons in the fire" if you will! I am the CEO of Sweet Pea Chic Baby Box Co., which is a subscription baby box company for expecting Mothers. I am a Corporate Professional in the County Government, the Executive Director of the Fertile Ground Foundation which is a nonprofit organization that advocates for women and families battling infertility, a Professional Singer/Songwriter working on my third album, a Wife of 11 years (16 years together), a mother, fertility advocate, language learner (I speak Korean), and a host of other things to other people.
This is a familiar story for many women, and I commend you Queens on your strength! I want to reflect on lessons. I want to allow hindsight to take the lead and use those experiences to discuss and think about how I move through life, and how I have lived up to this point. I feel this is important for me because it will help me understand more about who I am, and who I am wanting to become.

My Philosophy ...
Being a serial entrepreneur has its ups and downs, but running my companies is the best thing I get to do in life outside of being a wife and a mother! I started these companies with the intent of helping as many women and families as I could. The Fertile Ground Foundation advocates for women and families battling infertility and Sweet Pea Chic helps prepare women for their babies to arrive by providing holistic products that promote pregnancy wellness! I will continue to work diligently to ensure that women and families are cared for!
SPC Baby Line Coming Soon!
Sweet Pea Chic Baby Box Co. has created the SPC Baby Line! This line will feature our very own organic baby products, apparel, post partum baby boxes, and more! Of course the Crown Jewel of our Box Line, the Queen Mommy Baby Box, is for that expecting Mother who is preparing for Motherhood. Each month our Mommy's receive 5 to7 items that will prepare them for delivery and wellness! The goal is to cater to expecting Mothers and Families and provide them with a perfect box each month that is filled with Essentials to help prepare them for the Big "D" (Delivery) Day! It's not just a box...it's a community!

Sweet Pea Chic is where my dream started! It's purpose to support women that are trying to conceive and women who are expecting. It's a community that encourages, motivates, and inspires women along their journey's to Motherhood!

Fertile Ground Foundation & Podcast
A part of my SPC Family is also the Fertile Ground Foundation that is coming soon! This Non-Profit organization will be one that advocates for women battling infertility like myself. Approximately one in every eight couples are affected by infertility and that number is growing. You will find that I am very candid here with my journey, as I believe transparency is the best way to shine a light on what families deal with when it comes to infertility. It's time to stand up and support one another, and look for ways to fight this epidemic amongst women.
We support Infertility Awareness Week and other foundations that support awareness and we will also go deeper on the Fertile Ground Podcast so be sure to listen in!

My Musical Journey...
Being an artist has become such a huge part of my life! Music has always been a huge part of my life since I was young. I have been singing for as long as I could remember! My first memory of realizing that I could sing was in fifth grade. I loved music and I tried to get a couple of my classmates to sing along with me! No one knew or believed I could sing until about the age of 13...I will save that story for my blog!
I have spent many years singing professionally and with bands and I am currently writing, producing, and recording my sophomore project "Queendom" coming out at the top of November 2021! It's an exciting mix of R&B, Hip/Hop, Soul, NeoSoul, and story telling. I feel it brings something back to R&B that it used to have when I was coming up...a feel of Nostalgia that takes you back to when people used to care about content and the message. I can't wait to share it with the world! Be sure to be on the look out for it!
I also sing part time with the amazing DELTA FIRE Band here is Charlotte and have been doing so for almost 6 years! It has taught so much about performing and also about my vocal range. I have explored all genres of music and sung all genres! It has molded me into a more dynamic vocalist, writer, and performer! I am thankful for this experience...Be sure to check out my music that is streaming on all platforms and come out and see a performance!
